A Modern Approach to Player Activation
We've just introduced a range of enhancements to Player activation, making it far easier to license Players in the field.
Lost in the mists of time is the original moment we decided there needed to be better way to assign a license to Player - i.e. Player activation. It probably happened the day a keyboard broke and we realized we were stuck. All of the original Player licensing options depended on the presence of a physical or virtual keyboard. What if one wasn't available? And how much typing does that mean for tens or hundreds of devices.
We've come up with three new ways to activate Player, all inspired by the need to streamline and go keyboard free.
Behold the new Player activation screen!
Let's walk through this screen:
- On the left is a QR code. Scanning it with any handheld device sends you to a license selection page on the My Intuiface website. (You'll have to log into your Intuiface account if you haven't already.) Now just select a license, optionally assign information like Player nickname and tags, and you're done. No keyboard and super fast!
- On the bottom right is an activation code. Head to our Player Activation page, enter that eight digit code, and you end up on the same license selection page described above. The magic of this and the QR code is Intuiface can find your Player wherever it is on the Internet and assign a license, automatically!
- In the upper right is the good-old field used to satisfy our pre-existing Player activation options.
These new options apply to all Player-supported platforms, so pretty nice, right? But wait, there's more!
These new activation options are excellent but they're still performed one device at a time. Good news: we've also introduced batch licensing. With this approach, you create a csv file (i.e. a simple text file) identifying all of the Players you wish to activate. Upload them to Intuiface and - boom! - all of the identified Players will self-license. You don't even need to be onsite!
